The alphabet should not be taught as a fact. It should be taught as inheritance with consequences.
If the letters on our screens descend from signs carved on the coast, then writing is not decorative to Lebanese identity. It is central. Archive, publish, document, translate, preserve: these become civic duties.
A people descended from alphabet makers should be harder to rob on paper.
